⚠ Notice Regarding Children's Privacy (COPPA)
JARVIS Homeschool is used by children, including children under the age of 13. We operate under the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). We do not collect personal information from any child without the prior verifiable consent of that child's parent or legal guardian.
A child's account on JARVIS can only be created by a registered parent or guardian who has accepted these terms. By creating a student account for your child, you are providing verifiable parental consent for the data practices described in this policy.
Parents may review, correct, or request deletion of their child's personal information at any time by contacting us at privacy@jarvis-edu.com.

4. Children's Privacy — COPPA Detailed Disclosure
Because JARVIS serves children, including children under 13, we are committed to full compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), 15 U.S.C. §§ 6501–6506, and the FTC's implementing regulations at 16 C.F.R. Part 312.
Parental Consent
We obtain verifiable parental consent before collecting any personal information from a child. A child's account can only be created by a parent or guardian who has registered on the platform, accepted these terms, and actively added the child to their account. This action constitutes the parent's verifiable consent.
What We Collect from Children and Why
We collect only the minimum information necessary to operate the educational service: the child's name (for display and parent identification), grade level (for curriculum placement), a numeric PIN (for login), and learning activity data (for progress tracking and parent reporting). We do not condition a child's participation on disclosure of more information than is necessary.
How We Use Children's Information
Children's personal information is used solely to: (1) operate and personalize the educational experience, (2) generate progress reports visible only to the child's registered parent, and (3) support platform security and integrity. It is never used for advertising, third-party marketing, or profiling.
Disclosure to Third Parties
We do not disclose children's personal information to third parties except as follows:
- Google (Firebase): our database and authentication provider, acting as a data processor under our instructions. Google's data processing terms apply.
- Netlify: our web hosting provider. Netlify processes web traffic logs but does not have access to application data.
- Render: our server hosting provider. Render hosts our application server but does not have access to personal data beyond server logs.
- As required by law: we may disclose information if required by a court order, subpoena, or applicable law, and will notify parents where legally permitted to do so.
We do not share children's information with Square, SendGrid, Anthropic, or the NASA API. Payment processing is parent-account-only. Anthropic's API is used by administrators to generate curriculum content offline; no student data is transmitted to Anthropic.
Parents' Rights
At any time, a parent or legal guardian may:
- Review the personal information we have collected about their child by contacting us at privacy@jarvis-edu.com.
- Correct inaccurate information by updating it through their parent portal or by contacting us.
- Delete their child's personal information by requesting account deletion. We will delete the child's data within 30 days of a verified request, except where retention is required by law.
- Refuse further collection by deleting the child's account. This will terminate the child's access to the platform.
We will respond to parental requests within 30 days. We may require verification of identity before processing a request.
Data Retention
We retain children's personal information for as long as the family account is active, or as needed to provide the service. Upon account cancellation or deletion request, children's personal information is deleted within 30 days. Aggregated, de-identified learning statistics that cannot be linked to any individual may be retained for platform improvement purposes.
